Complex Care Conference

This two-and-a-half-day conference is intended for providers who currently care for children with medical complexity (CMC) or who are interested in learning to care for this population. This one-of-a-kind program offers an array of didactic and interactive sessions that will cover key complex care content areas, including review of current diagnostic and management strategies, care of children with medical technology use, and innovations in research, medical education, patient advocacy, and models of care. Through learning, sharing, and networking, the goals of this educational conference are to give our collaborative community the tools necessary to best care for CMC and support their families.

Intended audience: - Physicians, nurses, and advanced practice providers

1. Develop improved proficiency in consensus-based and evidence-based management of children with medical complexity
2. Employ effective communication tools to promote shared decision-making among providers, patients, and caregivers
3. Explain how interprofessional team-based approaches can enhance the shared care of medically complex patients in various settings
4. Foster their sense of belonging to a community of providers dedicated to care for children with medical complexity
5. Perform hands-on skills training to care for children who use medical technology, including enteral feeding tubes, central lines, and respiratory technologies

The conference will be held in The Hub for Clinal Collaboration at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The registration fee includes continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, and syllabus material.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at The Study at University City located just a few blocks from Children’s Hospital. The group overnight rate is $249 single and double occupancy plus a 16.25% room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling The Study directly at 215-387-1400. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.
