Overview

This one-day conference for hearing healthcare professionals will address current technologies that support children with hearing loss, while also looking ahead to emerging innovations. Presenters in audiology, otolaryngology, and hearing loss advocacy will share research, best practice guidelines, and community opportunities for improving quality of life and outcomes for this population both in the clinic and the community. The course will conclude with case studies highlighting how hearing healthcare providers utilize today’s technologies with an eye toward pioneering transformations.

  1. Describe the current options for hearing (re)habilitation for children with hearing loss ranging from hearing aids, cochlear implants, and the future application of gene therapy.
  2. Identify opportunities to implement AI-supported decision tools in pediatric audiology and vestibular care to enable personal intervention strategies and better long-term outcomes.
  3. Assess the benefits and limitations of current medical evaluations for sensorineural hearing loss.
  4. Recognize how to expand patient and family-centered care by building community and promoting advocacy in digital spaces.
