Overview

Since its inception in 2001, the John M. Templeton Jr. Pediatric Trauma Symposium has grown to be a nationally recognized resource for innovative as well as basic multidisciplinary pediatric trauma education — a one-of-a-kind conference! The two-day course allows participants the opportunity to be present and network among physician and nursing leaders in pediatric trauma as well as other health team members who are enthusiastic about pediatric trauma. Our expert conference faculty will share their best practices and discuss the latest advances in pediatric trauma care.

Both In-Person and Virtual attendance are available.


Objectives
  1. Describe current treatment and technological advances that decrease pediatric trauma and disability
  2. 90% of learners will self-report having the knowledge to discuss how trauma affects the physical and emotional development of the pediatric patient.
  3. Identify strategic measures to reduce the incidence of pediatric traumatic injuries.
  4. Discuss the values that support effective multidisciplinary teams in pediatric trauma care

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Designation of Credit

Physicians: Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia designates this live activity for a maximum of 11.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This program provides 11.5 ANCC hours.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 11.5 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.

EMS Accreditation

Application for Continuing Education credits has been submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of EMS through UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Your CEUs will be applied to your Status Report within two weeks of the conclusion of the symposium. Providers from other states will be provided with a certificate of attendance.

Social Work Accreditation

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is a pre-approved provider of continuing education credits for Pennsylvania Licensed Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors. Participants licensed in Pennsylvania who attend the full workshop and complete the required evaluation are eligible for a total of 6.5 CEUs for day 1, 5.0 CEUs for day 2 and 11.5 CEUs for the full conference. Participants licensed in other states should check with local licensing boards to determine continuing education approval.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (11.00 hours), ANCC NCPD Contact Hours (11.00 hours), Non-Physician AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ Attendance (includes PA, RT, RDMS) (11.00 hours)

A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at The Study located just a few blocks from Children’s Hospital. The group overnight rate is $249 single and double occupancy plus a 16.25% room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling The Study directly at 215-387-1400. Please mention the name of the conference when making your reservation. The special room rate will be available until Thursday, February 6, 2026. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.
