Topics in Pediatric Physical Therapy

This virtual course will include 13.5 hours of content for the participant to review on their own, a post modules assessment, and then a 1 day in person event focused on case study discussion.  Topics were selected to support the Description of Speciality Practice for Pediatric Physical Therapy and include:

• Gross Motor and Gait Development

• Orthopaedics

• Sports Medicine

• Oncology

• Wounds and Burns

• Early Intervention and School Setting

• Traumatic Brain Injury

• Cerebral Palsy

• Spinal Cord Injury

• Spina Bifida

• Muscular Dystrophy

• Spinal Muscle Atrophy

• Congenital Heart Defects

• Cystic Fibrosis

• Neonatology

• Assistive Technology and Adaptive Seating

1. Discuss diagnostic criteria, clinical features, and risk factors for common pediatric diagnoses.
2. Identify PT impairments utilizing ICF model for common pediatric diagnoses.
3. Choose relevant outcome measures to use when assessing pediatric patients.
4. Design evidence-based treatment approaches that target identified outcome measures and impairments.

The conference will be a hybrid event.  Asynchronous content and the post modules assessment must be completed by November 21, 2025.  The synchronous session will occur on Saturday, December 6^th, 2025 at the HUB for Clinical Collaboration of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. 

 

Registration must be received by Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. This course is appropriate for PTs and PTAs. For the in-person session, the registration fee includes continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, parking and syllabus material.
