Call for Abstracts

The Symposium Committee would like to invite authors to submit abstracts on basic science, clinical research and quality improvement related to the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of functional GI and motility disorders.

Authors of abstracts selected will be invited to give a poster presentation during the lunch/poster session on May 3, 2019.

Abstracts previously submitted to national and international scientific conferences qualify for submission unless data has been previously published.

Submission Deadline: 04/22/2019

Acceptance Notification: 04/26/2019

Submission Guidelines:

Please include the following sections in your abstract:

• Title

• Authors name

• Institutional affiliations

• Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions (no more than 250 words)

Poster Guidelines:

Posters should not exceed the provided poster boards (Height: 4 feet - Width: 8 feet)

Poster should include relevant disclosures for all authors

Scholarships

The Suzi and Scott Lustgarten Center for GI Motility is offering 5 travel grants in the amount of $800 for submitted abstracts from outside institutions that merit distinction for their novel scientific and clinical contributions. Awards are intended to support travel, lodging, meals and registration fees.

1. Review pathophysiologic mechanisms for common functional GI and motility disorders
2. Discuss medical therapies for chronic abdominal pain and associated clinical presentations
3. Discuss the application of nonmedical therapies that include combined dietary and psychosocial approaches
4. Discuss practical management tools for constipation, including advanced therapy for refractive cases
5. Review current and novel therapeutic methods in the management of gastroparesis

The conference will be held in the Leonard and Madlyn Abramson Pediatric Research Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The registration fee is $75 for physicians, $50 for nurses, and free for fellows and trainees. The fee includes continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, parking and syllabus material.

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education to physicians.

A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at The Sheraton University City, located just a few blocks from Children’s Hospital. The group overnight rate is $172 single and double occupancy plus a 15.2 percent room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling the hotel directly at 215-387-8000. Please mention the name of the conference when making your reservation. The special room rate will be available until April 1, 2019. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.
