Overview

This one-day program is targeted to families who care for a child with a pituitary tumor.  The program will offer interactive topics to improve the care and understanding of the pituitary tumor and its effects.  There will be opportunity to ask questions to experts and to gain from the experience of many other families.  Topics include general overview of the pituitary gland, hypothalamic obesity, steroid management, growth hormone therapy, neurodevelopment, and hormone replacement specific to the males and females.

KIDS ACTIVITY ROOM

Conference room 1100/B has been designated for kid’s activities.  All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in this room at all time.   There will be arts & crafts, movies and other activities for children of all ages.   The family program slides and audio will be available if parents wish to listen to the meeting.


Objectives
  1. Identify each of the hormones produced by the pituitary
  2. Explain features of hypothalamic obesity and approaches to therapy
  3. Explain how a brain tumor can effect neurodevelopment
  4. Explain when and how to administer stress steroid
  5. Discuss how to replacement sex specific hormones

Adults (18 and over) - $15

Children (17 and younger) - Free

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education to physicians.
