Primary Care providers are increasingly being called to manage ADHD. This course will help equip prescribers evaluate medication options, consider titrating versus changing medications, addressing side effects, and counseling patients and families. Additionally, ADHD psychopharmacology used in primary care will be reviewed, including how to choose a stimulant, troubleshooting clinical concerns, and augmentive therapies for sleep and weight gain.

  2. Describe prescribing practices across disciplines of primary care, psychiatry, and developmental behavioral pediatrics and navigate a shared-care model of prescribing and medication management.
  3. Evaluate aggression in patients with ADHD and appropriate psychopharmacologic management strategies by age.
  4. Develop approaches to managing common side effects of stimulants including insomnia, anorexia, and tics in a team-based care model.
  5. Explore integrative, interdisciplinary approaches to ADHD and dispel myths surrounding complementary approaches to behavior management.
