Transport of the Pediatric and Neonatal Patient

Interfacility transport of neonates and children requires advanced skills and knowledge among all members of the transport team. Positive outcomes can be achieved through communication and coordination between the referring and receiving care team, careful evaluation and management, anticipation of complications, and a safe, well-equipped and specially trained transport team.

This one-day conference will provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to clinical issues related to neonatal and pediatric transport. Topics will include management of asthma, cardiac disease, airway emergencies, ventilation strategies and anaphylaxis. Case studies and simulation will give participants the opportunity to explore challenges and evidence-based care guidelines.

1. Discuss current management strategies for stabilization and transport of neonates and children
2. Demonstrate assessment and stabilization skills for the care of critically ill pediatric patients
3. Review common challenges encountered in the pre-hospital and transport environments

The conference will be held in the Ruth and Tristram Colket, Jr. Translational Research Building on the Raymond G. Perelman Campus at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The registration fee is $125 and includes continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, parking and syllabus material.

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education to physicians.

A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at The Sheraton University City, located just a few blocks from Children’s Hospital. The group overnight rate is $172 single and double occupancy plus a 16.5 percent room tax. The special room rate will be available until Friday, Sept. 14, 2018. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.
