Helping Babies Breathe® 2nd Edition Master Trainer Course

This one-day Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) Master Trainer Course, 2^ndedition, is designed to provide participants with neonatal resuscitation skills and prepare them to train others in the initial steps of neonatal resuscitation.  The HBB curriculum, which focuses on The Golden Minute after birth, is specifically designed for low-resource environments and has been shown to significantly reduce neonatal mortality fresh stillbirths.  HBB is an initiative of the American Academy of Pediatrics in collaboration with other global health organizations.

Target Audience

All providers interested in or already working in the field of global health in pediatric/neonatal care.  This includes physicians (especially pediatricians, neonatologists, and obstetricians), midwives, advanced practice providers, nurses, students, social workers, allied health professionals, public health professionals, researchers, and trainees.  

1. Identify key messages of Helping Babies Breathe and successfully carry out all the exercises – (Preparation, Routine Care for All Babies, The Golden Minute, and Continued Ventilation with Normal or Slow Heart Rate)
2. Demonstrate mastery of baby and mask ventilation (skill check) and successfully complete the written/verbal knowledge check and OSCE A and B
3. Demonstrate presentation of HBB content, including key messages from the Facilitator Flip Chart, and incorporation of all the HBB learning materials
4. Facilitate learning in small groups with participants of various ability levels
5. Evaluate learner performance
6. Prepare and supervise participants in continued learning in the workplace
7. Access resources to plan and evaluate courses

Course Fee:  $200

The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, drinks, and snacks during the hours of the conference, parking, and online course syllabus.  Participants are required to purchase and bring both the NeoNatalie Newborn Educational Mannequin and Helping Babies Breathe, 2nd edition Facilitator Set to the conference. (links to purchase below).  Because this is a condensed 1-day course, participants must review the curriculum and pass a provided multiple choice knowledge exam prior to the start of the course.

Hotel Information

A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at the Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel, located within walking distance of Children’s Hospital.

The group rate is $172 single and double occupancy plus a 16.25 room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling the hotel directly at 215-387-8000. Please mention the name of this conference when making your reservation. The special room rate will be available until Sept. 3, 2018. After that date, reservations will be accepted according to space and rate availability.
