Overview

The increasing number of acutely ill and injured pediatric patients presenting to Emergency Departments and offices requires that emergency physicians, pediatric emergency physicians, pediatricians, family physicians, pediatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants be prepared to assess, diagnose and expertly treat a wide variety of pediatric emergencies. Diagnostic and therapeutic practices continue to evolve, and patient care recommendations and guidelines continue to improve.

Target Audience

Course includes hands-on, high-fidelity medical simulations in addition to concise lectures and small group instruction in Pediatric Emergency Medicine for the emergency physician, pediatrician, family physician, nurse practitioner and physician’s assistant.


Objectives
Upon completion of this live activity participants should be able to:

  1. Describe an approach to the resuscitation of a child in cardiopulmonary arrest based on the most recent guidelines
  2. Summarize recent data on steroids, bronchodilators and adjunctive methods for the treatment of pediatric respiratory emergencies
  3. Describe newer indications for point-of-care ultrasound in the pediatric emergency department
  4. Summarize recent data concerning the role of CT scan in the evaluation of children with head injuries
  5. Outline a diagnostic and therapeutic approach to caring for febrile infants and children

Course Fee

The registration fee of $750 (physicians) or $650 (other healthcare professionals) includes breakfast and program materials. Registrations will not be processed unless accompanied by full payment.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA Credit Designation Statement

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia designates this live activity for a maximum of 20.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
