Overview
While people may disagree about the causes, it is undeniable that shifts in temperature and weather, i.e., climate change, is impacting lives and livelihoods worldwide. Wildfires, droughts, air pollution, extreme flooding, and higher-than-normal temperatures are being experienced all over the globe. Children are a vulnerable population because of their unique physiology and dependence on adults for their well-being. They are not only bearing the brunt of these shifts today but will also live with the harmful consequences of climate change in the future. This year’s 16th Annual CHOP Pediatric Global Health Conference, “Rising Up Together: Child Health in the Face of Climate Change,” will explore short- and long-term interventions to help mitigate the impact of climate change on child health.

Objectives
  1. Describe the latest trends in climate change and research on the impact of climate change on global child health.
  2. Identify at least three skills we can incorporate into our individual and team practice to reduce the impact of climate change on global child health.
  3. Utilize tools to advocate for policies and practices to reduce the impact of climate change on global child health.
  4. Identify at least three strategies that healthcare systems can implement to reduce the impact of climate change on global child health.
  5. List up to five priority research areas on climate change and child health.
