Minds Matter Concussion Care: New Frontiers

This one-day conference is intended for clinicians, school or athletic personnel, and anyone who may be involved in the management of patients with concussion. Sessions will provide best practices for the evaluation of a suspected concussion, including the latest developments and new frontiers for research. Models for managing student athletes in the academic setting across the age span will be presented. Therapeutic approaches to concussions with persistent symptoms will be reviewed in depth, targeting the visual, vestibular, and aerobic systems. Management of issues relating to the intersection of concussion with chronic headache, cognitive function, and behavioral health will also be presented.

1. Identify how a targeted concussion history and visio-vestibular examination is used to diagnose concussions
2. Describe how an active management plan for acute concussions can account for return to learning and activities
3. Describe the management and appropriate referral sources for the care of patients with persisting post-concussive symptoms

The conference will be held in the HUB for Clinical Collaboration at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The registration fee includes continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, parking, and syllabus material.

A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at The Study University City, located just a few blocks from Children’s Hospital. The group overnight rate is $239 single and double occupancy plus a 16.37 percent room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling the Study directly at 215-387-1400. Please mention the name of the conference when making your reservation. The special room rate will be available until Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.
