Overview

This one-day course will focus on the rehabilitation needs of children with cancer. It is designed to inform occupational and physical therapists (OTs and PTs) and therapy assistants (COTAs and PTAs) about the role of rehabilitation professionals when treating children and adolescents with cancer. Attendees will gain skills in evidence-based, effective evaluation and treatment strategies for children and adolescents with cancer.

 

Course Objectives
1. Identify the most common types of pediatric cancers and develop an understanding of medical treatments available
2. Create and discuss appropriate OT and PT examination techniques and intervention strategies for children and adolescents with cancer
3.  Recognize and describe OT and PT impairments frequently present in children and adolescents with cancer
4.  Describe the role of rehab professionals along the continuum of care for children and adolescents with cancer

Physical Therapy Accreditation
This course has been submitted for 7.5 CEUs for New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This course is appropriate for PTs and PTAs

Occupational Therapy Accreditation
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is an AOTA Approved Provider of professional development. Course approval ID #0000005624. This live event is offered at .75 CEUs, for intermediate Occupational Therapy learners, under the category of OT Service Delivery and Foundational Knowledge. Occupational Therapy (7.50 hours), Physical Therapy (7.50 hours)

A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at the Sheraton, located just a few blocks from Children’s Hospital. The group overnight rate is $175 single and double occupancy plus a 16.37 percent room tax. Participants are required to make their own hotel reservations by calling the Sheraton directly at 888-627-7071 or 215-387-8000. Please mention the name of the conference when making your reservation. The special room rate will be available until Tuesday, November 1, 2022. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.
