Legacy of Care: Cardiac Center Reunion

Join us as we celebrate 75 years of the CHOP Cardiac Center through the unique perspective of its trainees. This special program will reflect on the Center’s rich history, highlighting landmark medical advances and the visionary innovators who helped shape the field of pediatric cardiac care. Throughout the day, we will also look ahead to the future, exploring the new frontiers being defined by our current faculty and distinguished alumni.

1. Describe the historical milestones and major innovations that have shaped pediatric cardiology, cardiac surgery, and subspecialty training over the past 75 years at CHOP.
2. Evaluate current advances in interventional catheterization, 3D modeling, ventricular assist devices, cardiac support systems, and novel arrhythmia therapies, and apply these developments to contemporary clinical decision-making.
3. Integrate emerging multidisciplinary approaches in fetal therapy, prenatal diagnosis, and perioperative management to improve outcomes for patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.
4. Interpret current translational and clinical research initiatives in pediatric cardiology and assess their relevance to present and future patient care.
5. Apply strategies for translating bench research into bedside practice, with emphasis on innovation, evidence-based care, and quality improvement.
6. Discuss approaches to career development, mentorship, leadership, and academic advancement within pediatric cardiac specialties through reflection on training experiences and professional pathways.
