Overview

This international conference is targeted for healthcare providers working with survivors of childhood and adolescent cancer including but not limited to advanced practice providers, nurses, physicians, social workers and school nurses. The conference offers a wide variety of topics related to all aspects of cancer survivorship including late effects by system, transition, health disparities and social determinants of health, fertility, cardiology and hereditary predisposition. Opportunities for interactive learning and professional networking will augment the didactic components of the sessions.

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

• Explore a wide variety of topics in Late Effects Management

• Network with colleagues across disciplines with shared interest in Survivorship

• Share Nursing Research with peers

Objectives
  1. Identify how social determinants of health such as socioeconomic status, access to healthcare, education, and the physical and social environment, can create disparities in long term health outcomes and quality of life for childhood cancer survivors.
  2. Identify treatment associated risk factors for late cardiac toxicity in childhood cancer survivors and describe strategies for ongoing surveillance in this population.
  3. Identify key genetic mutations that predispose individuals to the development of cancer and describe appropriate pathways for genetic testing, counseling and tailored surveillance.
  4. Identify effective strategies for managing fatigue, cognitive impairment, sexual dysfunction and other general health and wellness concerns in pediatric cancer survivors.
  5. Describe how radiation therapy causes late effects in childhood cancer survivors and how advances in delivery techniques have mitigated some of the long term complications of this treatment modality.
  6. Improve understanding of other survivorship topics including: fertility, transition to adult care, endocrinopathies and accelerated aging.
