Overview

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 6 children in the United States has a developmental disability or developmental delay and 1 in 36 has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As the American Academy of Pediatrics highlights, there is a shortage of developmental and behavioral specialists, limiting access to specialty care for many children with developmental or behavioral health conditions. This conference will address some of the leading developmental and behavioral health concerns that pediatricians and primary care providers deal with on a daily basis: obesity in neurodiverse patients, behavioral and pharmacologic interventions for aggression and self injury, behavioral health in young children, transition for young adults with autism and/or intellectual disabilities, complementary and alternative treatments for autism, and wellness for providers and caregivers. Each lecture will include evidence-based treatments, support management, and resource suggestions.

Objectives
  1. Identify common developmental and behavioral health symptoms that can present in pediatric patients.
  2. Identify ways medical and behavioral health professions can collaborate as a multidisciplinary team in caring for children with neurodevelopmental and/or behavioral diagnoses.
  3. Describe common medical and mental health conditions that can occur with developmental or behavioral disorders and understand how they may impact the child’s function.
  4. Recognize resources that can be utilized in the office or shared with families to address developmental, behavioral or mental health concerns in children.

Registration
The registration fee includes access to the conference live stream, online presentations, and CME credits.
Physicians - $125
Other Healthcare Professionals - $75
