Overview
Neonatal Healthcare providers are frequently challenged with the safest and most effective medication to choose for their patients who are in the neonatal intensive care unit. This one-day course will provide an overview of medication safety and specific medication updates including indications, dosing, and safety considerations. Ample time is available to share the different perspectives of pharmacists, nurses, APPs, and physicians and increase attention to medication safety.

Objectives
  1. 90% will be able to describe at least two reasons why patients in the neonatal ICU are at high risk for medication errors.
  2. 90% will be able to identify at least 2 medications for which you gained new knowledge that will be useful in clinical practice.
  3. 90% will be able to list interprofessional team communications strategies that enhance medication safety in the Neonatal ICU.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (6.75 hours), ACPE Credits (6.75 hours), ANCC NCPD Contact Hours (6.75 hours), NCPD Pharmacotherapeutic Hours (6.75 hours), Non-Physician AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ Attendance (includes PA, RT, RDMS) (6.75 hours)

A block of rooms has been reserved at reduced rates at The Study located just a few blocks from Children’s Hospital. The group overnight rate is $289 single and double occupancy plus a 16.25% room tax.
