CHOP at Virtua Pediatric Symposium: A Primer on Improving Quality of Care for Children

The CHOP at Virtua Symposium has a 15+ year history of providing evidence-based education for the interprofessional pediatric healthcare community of our region, which includes pediatric inpatient, outpatient, family medicine, and ED physicians, as well as pediatric nurses. This year's symposium will have a unifying theme of Quality Improvement, with the goal to provide our attendees with a QI toolbox as well as examples across the CHOP and Virtua Networks of how Quality Improvement work can support systemic change such as guideline and pathway implementation and lead to improved care of our patients.

1. Gain familiarity with approaches to QI used in healthcare systems
2. Identify at least three antimicrobial stewardship strategies that can be applied to quality improvement initiatives to optimize antibiotic use
3. To recognize strategies for evidence-based delivery of STI and HIV prevention services
4. Consider the value of CHOP Newborn Care Network consensus in NICU QI projects
5. Understand and utilize screens for diagnosis and management of mental health concerns
6. Utilize quality improvement methodology to incorporate evidence-based guidelines into patient care

The registration fees are $75 for MDs/DOs/APNs and $40 for RNs/trainees. The fees include continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, parking and syllabus material.

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education to physicians.
