Liz Lowenthal, MD MSCE

Dr. Lowenthal is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School or Medicine and Research Director for the CHOP Global Health Center. She is also the Director of the Developmental Core for the Penn Center for AIDS Research. Clinically, her work focuses on the care and treatment of children and adolescents living with HIV and HIV-exposed infants. Her research career was inspired by clinical work that she did early in her career in Botswana, where she served as Clinic Director of the Botswana-Baylor Children’s Clinical Centre of Excellence between 2004 and 2008. Over the last two decades, her research portfolio has expanded to include other child health issues identified as priorities by her collaborators in Botswana, the Dominican Republic, and Ghana.
