Dr Sarjita Shukla is a pediatric hospitalist and is the medical director of Integrative Medicine at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.  As a native Texan, she went to Texas A&M University before moving to Phoenix, AZ for pediatric residency.  She has been practicing as a pediatric hospitalist since graduating from residency and serving as a chief resident.  Despite her love of the inpatient setting, Dr Shukla felt it was necessary to empower patients to live fuller, healthier lives. She completed her Integrative Medicine fellowship through the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, and is board certified.   She also earned the Pediatric Integrative Medicine certification through the Academy of Pediatric Integrative Medicine.  She has worked with donors and leadership to develop the Integrative Medicine program at Phoenix Children’s, which currently includes an outpatient Integrative Medicine clinic with a registered dietician, as well as an inpatient consult service.

In addition to patient wellness, Dr Shukla is passionate about wellness for healthcare providers and staff.  She is the inaugural chair for the Phoenix Children’s medical staff Provider Wellbeing committee, and co-chair of the graduate medical education Wellness committee. In this role, she has worked closely with human resources leadership and the employee wellness program, and with the support of physician leadership, she has built a network of nearly 30 Division Wellbeing Directors representing the majority of the subspecialty divisions, providing ongoing education and developing tools to increase and enhance efforts for wellbeing initiatives and collaboration across the organization’s provider group.
