Bio for Marissa Perman

Marissa J. Perman, MD grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. After attending Cornell University for undergraduate studies, she did a post-baccalaureate program at Boston University for medicine then matriculated to the University of Maryland School of Medicine for her medical degree. She completed a pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center followed by a dermatology residency at the University of Cincinnati.  After 6 years in Cincinnati with her husband who is also in medicine, she moved to Philadelphia, PA for pediatric dermatology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and then stayed on as faculty. She was awarded a Chair’s Initiative in 2016 to build the Epidermolysis Bullosa Program at CHOP. She became the Section Chief of Dermatology in 2020 and is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Dermatology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania.

Her current interests include epidermolysis bullosa, infantile hemangiomas, and sunscreen safety and efficacy. She enjoys spending time with her family including her husband, 2 boys ages 14 and 11 and her 3 year old Shepherd-mix.
