Priscilla M. Ortiz, PhD, CMI-Spanish is a certified medical interpreter with over 20 years of experience in pediatric and adult healthcare organizations.  She has research training and a doctorate in applied linguistics from Penn State University and serves as Program Manager of Language Services at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  She is interested in professional development and training for all three parties to interpreter-mediated encounters: healthcare interpreters, clinical staff/researchers or service providers, and patient-families who prefer a Language other than English. She has worked with various organizations in the community to promote language access, equity, and diversity in the Philadelphia area.
