Becki Fogerty is the Director of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. ODI’s mission is to advocate for a safe, culturally competent, equitable and caring environment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).  The Office and its team provide expert counsel, strategies and programming to: 1) engage CHOP’s workforce through diversity initiatives; 2) partner to ensure culturally competent services for our patients and their families; and 3) support surrounding communities through efforts to reduce healthcare disparities and advance economic opportunity.

Prior to joining CHOP in April 2015, Becki was the Associate Director and Deputy Title IX Coordinator of the Office of Equity & Inclusion at the University of Delaware for 8 years. She began her career at the Women’s Center at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, as the Assistant Director, advocating for college student victims of sexual assault and relationship violence and training bystanders. Becki then moved to Washington, D.C. to manage the educational and interpretative programs at the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum, a historical women’s history museum about women’s suffrage and equal rights. She also served as an adjunct instructor at University of Delaware, Old Dominion University and Thomas Nelson Community College, teaching women’s studies and sociology courses.

She holds a M.A. from Old Dominion University in applied sociology and women’s studies, a B.A. in sociology/anthropology from Elon University, and completed coursework in graduate-level organizational development and higher education administration programs. Becki was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, but now calls Newark, Delaware her home.
