Brett Engbrecht earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Biology at The Johns Hopkins University, and his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, both in Baltimore, MD.  He completed a general surgery residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center.  During residency, he completed a two-year research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.  He completed his pediatric surgery fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  He subsequently earned a Master of Public Health Degree from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at The Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Engbrecht has worked at the John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, IL, and for the last twelve years has been an attending pediatric surgeon at the Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the Penn State College of Medicine and the Medical Director of the Pediatric Trauma Program.
