A. Personal statement

I have had the privilege to do my neurosurgery residency training at the University of Pennsylvania and my fellowship training at the world-renowned Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. During my neurosurgery training, I found myself interested in pursuing a career in academic pediatric neurosurgery. During my neurosurgery residency, I was able to develop a research foundation in pediatric tumor biology and traumatic brain injury. The collaboration I was able to form with researchers from neurocritical care, neuropathology, neurology, and neuro-oncology was vital in the development of my career as an academic pediatric neurosurgeon. As I transitioned to become a pediatric neurosurgery attending at CHOP, I have been fortunate to continue closely working with pediatric neurocritical physicians who share my interest in multi-modality neuromonitoring in the pediatric neurosurgical population. I have been interested in finding reliable non-invasive methods to evaluate patients with intracranial hypertension. My ultimate ambition is to use my clinical neurosurgery training as a platform in which to build upon translational research ideas such as non-invasive intracranial monitoring.
