Alexander Feliz, M.D.


Dr. Feliz attended college at Wesleyan University receiving his Bachelor’s in Psychology in 1991. After studying medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, he went on to complete a general surgery residency at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine in 2004. He continued his surgical training by completing Pediatric Surgical Critical Care Fellowship in 2005 and then a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship in 2008 at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. He accepted his first position at the University of Nevada in 2008 as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. Dr. Feliz was recruited to join the faculty of UTHSC/ Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in 2011. He currently holds the position as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics and Program Director of General Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. Feliz is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. His research focus and clinical expertise is surgical education. He has introduced advanced minimally invasive techniques, and he continues expose new methods to the field of Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Feliz is actively involved in local and national academic societies. He is an active member of QEP and the founder of the Center for Health Equity at Le Bonheur (CHELB), which continues to improve healthcare disparities for children in the tri-state area.
