Anne M. Menke, RN, PhD, received her diploma in registered nursing from Christ Hospital School of Nursing, her B.A. from San Francisco State University, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. Dr. Menke served first as Risk Manager and now as Patient Safety Manager for 15 years at OMIC (Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company). She provides confidential risk management consultations to ophthalmologists, conducts studies on ophthalmic clinical and risk management topics, writes detailed risk management recommendation documents, and develops procedure-specific consent forms. Dr. Menke has contributed articles to Archives of Ophthalmology, JAAPOS, Retina Times, Insight: The Journal of ASORN, and EyeNet, as well as a chapter in Risk Prevention in Ophthalmology, and writes regularly for The Ophthalmic Risk Management Digest. She presents risk management seminars at national, state, and subspecialty ophthalmic conferences, as well as AAPOS, ASOPRS, ASORN, AAOE, and JCAHPO meetings.
