Dominique Vervoort, MD is a recent medical graduate from the KU Leuven in Belgium and current Research Associate at the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change (PGSSC) at Harvard Medical School. Dominique was co-founder and current Chair of InciSioN International Student Surgical Network, the world’s leading Global Surgery trainee network with over 3,100 medical and public health students, residents, and young doctors in over 70 countries. Dominique currently works in Pakistan and Guinea after previous work in Peru, Ghana, and Japan. His main areas of interest and work within global surgery include national surgical planning, health economics, and capacity-building. As an aspiring paediatric cardiac surgeon, Dominique established the advocacy organization Global Cardiac Surgery with supporting academic work to ignite a global movement for the unborn child that global cardiac surgery is.
